Because of the large number of new HP printers being introduced, please use the following procedure to determine if a printer not listed above is compatible with our products and HP/Agilent test equipment. Items 2 & 3 are typically listed in the "specifications" section of the printer description on the HP web site.
-
First determine the price range of HP printer in which you are interested and go to the appropriate printer section on the HP web site.
-
The printer must have PCL (Printer Command Language). For the MicroPrint CH choose PCL3 (PCL, Version 3); for the MicroPlot 50A, select PCL5/6. This specification should be listed under "languages." Note that printers implementing PCL5/6 also implement PCL3.
-
The printer must have a IEEE 1284 compliant parallel port. This specification should be under "connectivity."
-
It is becoming difficult to find IEEE 1284 printers at HP printer retailers. We suggest you order them directly from HP if you cannot find one at your retailer.
DISCLAIMER: Intelligent Interfaces HAS NOT tested the above printers with all models of HP/Agilent, or other, test equipment. Compatibility is based on the assumption that all PCL printers will work identically when used as directed. This assumption
has, on occasion, been incorrect. The user should test the selected printer/converter combination immediately after purchase to determine compatibility.
*These are "Windows Only" Printers
** In order to use a printer as a plotter, or to print in landscape
orientation, the printer must support Printer Command Language (PCL),
Versions 5 or 6 (PCL5/6).
PCL (Printer Command Language) is the data and command format HP controllers
use to communicate with HP (or compatible) printers. The first 128
characters of this language cover text commands and are compatible
with virtually all printers. Characters above 128 describe graphics
symbols and are unique to HP and compatible printers. |
